How To Shop For Plasma TVs Online

by Aurel Radulescu

Consumers can either shop online or at retail for plasma TVs, but there are a few ways to ensure that, no matter where you purchase, you will get exactly what you paid for. With the internet auction craze gaining in popularity, consumers should be aware that if something sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. Low pricing for such expensive technology is just one of the red flags that consumers should be wary of. Warranties, when offered, sometimes require consumers to return the television at their own cost and may not even be an American warranty. Anytime a consumer deals with online auctions, they should purchase only from a reputable dealer after researching feedback and asking questions prior to getting locked into a purchase agreement.

When shopping for plasma TVs, consumers should also watch for very low pricing with extremely high shipping fees. With any electronic purchase, consumers can expect to pay larger shipping, but only within reason. Again, this is a situation that outlines the importance of only buying plasma TVs from a reputable online or local dealer.

Before making any purchase, including that of plasma TVs, always check out the business’s reputation with the local Better Business Bureau in their area. Any reputable business should always provide contact information, including a physical address (not a post office box), a telephone number and e-mail address. If communication is lacking or telephone calls go unanswered, consumers are urged to consider purchasing very carefully. If purchasing plasma TVs from a business that fails to answer their phone, or return calls, customer service after the sale will certainly not improve.

Before purchasing plasma TVs, learn about the company’s return or exchange policy. What happens if the unit is damaged upon arrival or begins to show a problem after minimal use? With such an investment, consumers should always make themselves familiar with a company’s customer service policy before purchasing anything. In addition, avoid any salesperson who is pushy or seems overly anxious to make the sale. This is a sign that something may be wrong and they are trying to sell as much as possible in a hurry. Even if the business is legitimate, a rushed sale is never a good idea in any situation.

If you ultimately decide to purchase Plasma TVs online, do it with a credit card. This will enable you, the consumer, to reserve your right to file a dispute with the credit card company if the product is not as advertised, is not delivered or the company refused to honor their agreement to repair the product. The majority of credit card companies allow their customers to file a dispute, in writing, regarding a purchase that was made with their credit card. This dispute must outline a variety of factors, including the date purchased, the total purchase price and the circumstances leading up to the dispute. Upon receiving notification of your dispute, the credit card company will investigate the complaint and typically refund the money back to your credit card.

Ten Things You Should Know Before You Go Shopping For That Special Ring

by Richard W. Wise

Rings symbolize lasting love, but there are so many choices to navigate – gold or platinum? An original design or an antique? – that it’s difficult to know how to pick the best ring. Learn the criteria for purchasing a top-notch ring, and like your relationship, if it is a quality ring, it should grow richer and more beautiful with age.If you don’t know the product, know your jeweler. What you don’t want is a pretty face in a pin-striped suit. Ask questions, and if you don’t like the answers, move on. If you are shopping for gems, seek out a Graduate Gemologist with a diploma from the Gemological Institute of America.

Today’s wedding rings are available in a variety of finishes: polished, buff and sandblasted. Will they last? In a word, no. Precious metals are relatively soft. If you buy polished and she wants buff, they will both look about the same in a couple of years.

Gold or platinum?

Manufacturers are required to label gold according to its purity. Karat is an old standard that divides into 24 parts; 10k is 39% pure, 14k is 58% pure, 18k is 75% pure, 22k is 90% pure and 24k is 100% pure gold. 18k is the aristocrat of gold. Some U. S. jewelers will often tell you it is too soft. Though an 18k ring is a tad softer than 14k, over the years it will develop a rich, buttery patina.

Platinum is not labeled in Karats but by percentage of purity. In the United States the percentage of metal must be at least 90% before a ring can be legally labeled platinum.

A platinum ring costs at least twice the price of the same ring in 14k gold. Why? Platinum has greater density; a one-inch cube of platinum weighs 40% more than an identical cube of pure gold. Platinum is currently priced at about twice the gold price because it is used 90% pure and it is more difficult to work with.

Gold is the most plastic of metals, but platinum is the more durable. However, a heavy, high-quality ring made of either metal should last for many years.

Gem set, unique design or antique?

Be careful when buying gem set rings. Many of this type are manufactured offshore. They are cast all in one piece and the prongs that hold the stones are soft. Ask your jeweler about the manufacturing process. A yellow gold ring with yellow prongs set with white diamonds should be viewed with suspicion. High-quality rings are made in two parts with tempered die-struck prongs soldered in place. For diamonds, the prongs should be white. Beware of deals that sound too good to be true. After you replace a few stones, your great deal may turn into your worst nightmare.

If you want a unique design to symbolize your unique relationship, consider a handmade original design. Think they’re too expensive? Not necessarily. Most handmade rings are made by a goldsmith and sold directly to the consumer. Most commercially-made rings pass through several hands before reaching yours, gathering mark-ups along the way. Therefore, a handmade ring may be a better value for your money and often the craftsman will do the design work for free.

Should you buy an antique ring? By definition, an antique has been around a long time. Art-Deco period rings made in the 1920’s are very popular today. When you buy an antique you become its custodian. Jewelers will usually not warranty antique pieces so be sure to check before purchasing an antique ring. And these rings were made for women who lived a less active lifestyle. Be practical! That delicate lacy design will not last long on a woman whose hobby is rock climbing!

Most of all, these rings will be the single most enduring symbol of your love. You will wear them for many years while the wedding gown gathers mothballs in your closet. Whatever rings you choose, make sure you love them!

Mystery Shopping

by George Williams

There is nothing for free. But how about almost free, or free with little effort? Ah ha! Now that you’re paying attention, let’s talk about the world of Mystery Shopping.Mystery Shopping, or being a secret shopper, is merely evaluating a product or service, and then getting paid to do it. The only stipulation is that you must be covert about it. The list of assignments is literally endless. You could be asked to go to a fast food restaurant, a clothing store, an employment agency, a car repair establishment, receive a bouquet of flowers, get your eyes checked, be a potential renter in an apartment complex, or eat out at a fine dining restaurant. Many will reimburse you for the item they required you to purchase and also give you a small bonus ($8-$15) on top of that. Sometimes you’re allowed to spend $40 for dinner and you’ll get an extra $10 if you submit your report on time. Other times you will be reimbursed only for what you purchased and that’s it. Each company compensates differently.

Like everything, there are a few downsides. Perhaps “areas of consideration” is a more appropriate word to use here. What is your time worth? Sometimes you’ll be offered a gig where you have to stay in a store for 20 minutes and interact with different employees. Then you need to come home and fill out a three page report detailing every single tidbit that happened. You may have driven 40 miles round trip and you’ll get a check for $10 when all is said and done. Consider how much your time and a tank of gasoline is worth. The assignment may fit your situation just fine. Also you may be asked to go to a boatload of fast food restaurants and purchase Crabby Patties. Now suddenly you need an entire new wardrobe because it appears your dryer is shrinking all of your pants. You just need to evaluate where you want to go and determine if you are willing to do the assignment for the agreed upon compensation.

Getting started is rather simple. Google the words “Mystery Shoppers” or “Mystery Shopping” or “Secret Shopping”. From there you’ll see a plethora of companies that work in this arena. Visit each site to sign up to become a shopper. They’ll ask you for basic contact information. Some will ask why you want to be a shopper. Others might ask for a sample of your writing. This is to insure you can complete an evaluation report. It could take 4-6 weeks before you hear back from some. Some will phone you, some will send you emails and some will send assignments in the mail (note: most have done away with snail mail assignments). Register with as many companies that interest you.

Remember. Do not pay for a guide advertised on the newspapers. All the information you need is easily available online… Free! Free! Free!

Looking back to the history of shoes in the 20th century, you will know how styles will never fade away. In 1900’s where shoes have definite height. Some of the shoes had five inch heels that were attached to a mid-shin length. Shoe fashion was greatly influenced by Queen Victoria. The style “didn’t fade away with her death in 1901.

The women would wear boots in the day most of the time. The shoes that they would wear in the “evening were more diverse.” The shoes were “embellished with embroidery or metallic tread and glass or jet beading on the toes.” They were mostly made from fine satins and soft kid and beaded with rows to enhance the shins. The fashion was to have small narrow feet and most women would wear their shoes one size smaller.

Now, you can find more variation in shoes fashion. You might find varieties boots, casual shoes, athletic shoes, dress shoes, trend shoes and sandals. Each of those varieties offers numbers of pretty models too. For example, boots consist of knee-high boots

Online Shopping

by James Warren

I have just brought my first house!

I move in next week!

I’m really looking forward to it and can’t wait to get those keys!

Ok so i’m not the first person in the world to be in this situation. But to me it is a new feeling and comes with tremendouse stresses and pressures which I havn’t had to deal with before.

In between my day job and dealing with the solicitors and the estate agents, i’m worrying about the mortgage. Is the money going to get here on time? What if the contracts don’t get exchanged? I hope I don’t get gazzumped!

Finally I stop and have a think, then it hits me….

I havn’t actually got anything for my new house! I need a fridge freezer, a washing machine, an oven. And the list goes on! I don’t have time to go around the shops and compare prices. Let alone have the means to store everything before I get the house!

What am I going to do?

I know, i’ll buy everthing online. Great, problem solved!

So, I get my laptop out and start surfing the Internet looking for the best deals and best prices.

Hours go by and I havn’t actually made a purchase! I’m on a budget so I have to watch the pennies.

I find the product I want and think to myself, Can I get it cheaper elsewhere? so I go to another retailers website and start my search again. I do this a few times only to realise that the first place I looked was the cheapest anyway. How frustrating!

After an hour or two goes buy and my shopping list isn’t really getting any smaller I think Why can’t the High Street be online in one place? Wouldn’t it be great if i could search one website with products from all retailers and compare the prices at the same time!

I typed into the Address bar http://www.thehighstreetonline.com/ to see if it had been done and to my pleasure, it has!

I found a great website which has all the major retailers and brands and even compares the prices.

If only I new about this great service before I wasted all that time!

Anyway, I searched for each of the products on my list and compared all the prices and then went off to the cheapest retailers website and made my purchases. All within 30 minutes.

This was fantastic, I now know that when I move in to my new house next week, I don’t have to worry about being without the basic utilities like a fridge freeze, wahing machine etc. It is all being delivered the day after I move in.

All I have to do now is wait and keep my fingers crossed that the house purchase goes through without a hitch!

Please learn from my experiences and make the most of the free services out there, like http://www.thehighstreetonline.com/

It really does save you time and money!
My name is James Warren. I am an normal guy who has just purchased his first house. I want to share my experiences and let others learn from my mistakes. http://www.thehighsteetonline.com/ has really helped me save time and money, and it’s free to use!

Kids Furniture - Shopping Tips to Create the Perfect Child Bedroom

by Michael Holland

There are all different types of kid’s furniture that you can purchase to go with the theme of their room. However, regardless of the type of furniture you obtain for your child, you will want to make sure that it allows them to move comfortably; does not take up too much room so they still have a nice, safe play area; and is easily accessible to them. When purchasing kids furniture there are a few aspects you will want to keep in mind. They are the following:

1. The size of their room. In other words, how much space you have to work with. You don’t want to overload your child’s room with furniture.

2. The theme of the room: is their furniture that will match? For instance, if you are doing a fairytale room there is castle bookshelves.

3. The size and/or age of your child. If you are purchasing kids furniture for your toddler or small child, you won’t want to select items that are too tall or out of their reach. Although you may think it better to purchase furniture that your children will “grow into”, as it will save you money in the long run, remember; growing children like to be independent and do things themselves, if you place things out of their reach this could be potentially dangerous to them.

With these things in mind, here is an example of the type of kids furniture you can use to decorate a girls room that is based on a floral theme.

Beds: Aside from the standard twin, or double bed, the perfect bed to go with a little girl’s floral themed room is a daybed with a canopy. You will also find that some daybeds, like the Bristol Canopy bed that can be found at www.yourkidsdirect.com, is a trundle unit that is equipped with casters and can be rolled out and raised to hold another twin mattress.

Storage Furniture: The most popular storage kids furniture is bookshelves, and for the floral room, a dollhouse bookshelf would be the perfect touch to the room. This bookshelf is shaped like a standard open dollhouse with a number of different sized rooms that act as shelves.

Another great storage items you can add to her room is a toy box bench, which is a nifty piece of kids furniture that acts as both storage for her toys and a perfect sized seat for her. Choose a basic one that matches the color of the furniture in her room, and add a cushion to the seat that matches the color of the bedding or walls. You can place the bench by a window, or against a wall.

Dresser and nightstand – These come in different sizes and colors, and depending on what you are looking for, these kids furniture pieces can often be purchased in a set along with a bookshelf and sometimes even a desk. For the floral room, the best colors would be a light brown wood or furniture that has been painted white. Make sure you get the appropriate size for your child, and ensure that the furniture doesn’t have sharp edges that they can hurt themselves on.

Fun Furniture – This kids furniture can include a vanity, chairs like beanbag chairs or rocking chairs, pillow chairs and stools.

Finally, remember, while you may shop with your kids for their bedroom furniture, make sure that you purchase only the quality and safe kids furniture that you know they need and will use.
